A Very K-Halloween 2021 #K-Scifi

 Hey Subbies,

First, I guess a little life update since October was super crazy like usually super hard to make these types of posts. I started doing more outreach for my job and getting more back-to-back projects. My body is not used to it and I literally need time to rest since my body fatigues/drained due to anemia. But I thought working 3x a week out would help so I need to switch it up endurance training. Plus, my supervisor keeps telling me we need to be at every beck and call of the execs. I hate Gmail threads that bury emails and are new to me and the google chat which used to be Hangout, notifications suck on the desktop.

Also, it was mercury retrograde (were in the shadow period) which isn't my favorite time and I know some people believe some people don't. But like I said in the past this is my space to express myself. I went to update a post on my Tumblr and I never check the notes. However,  today I did and some random said, "I wasted my time since no one will care" but the post was for me to keep track of what is going on in the k-pop world lol. And some in the fandoms love to gaslight other fans within the fandom and mass report youtube videos that report on the scandals to bury the stories. That's why people can't even get into K-pop because of the fans mainly but I think no one should misconstrue the artist solely based on the actions of the fans (historically looking at human nature when it comes to worship/mania). And at the end of the day, the artist will still have a career regardless. But I hope, PR training for idols will become a norm because the international community is seeing everything.

But on a good note, I did go see Miyavi at being of October with my Kpop friends who also love music in general and since he is doing an American Tour. Plus some top celebrities came to see his tour as well. I also scored a setlist and went out to eat late-night Korean food near where I used to live when I was a kid. Enough of my venting lol let's get into my list for this year.

The song features a fast beat, addictive chorus, Sunmi's "breathy" vocals and aside from demonstrating her abilities as a vocalist, the singer is also seen exercising her rap skills. Its title was taken from a line in the 2004 film Mean Girls. The track summarizes the frustration and anger one experiences when they're at a crossroads with their lover. In terms of musical notation, the song is composed in the key of D minor, with a tempo of 145 beats per minute, and runs for three minutes and seventeen seconds. Stereotype" was first written and composed before STAYC's debut, but was not chosen as their debut song due to the lyrics and the message the song delivers. Musically, the song is described as a "future bass with flute-like synths" with dreamy funk elements. "Stereotype" was composed in the key of F-sharp major, with a tempo of 148 beats per minute. The message of the song is trying to escape prejudice and stereotypes that try to judge others easily by simply looking at their appearance with the lyrics "Don't look at them with colored glasses." "What I Said" was composed in the key of F-sharp major, with a tempo of 142 beats per minute. The Lyric express to live larger than life which is shown visually in the Music Video. The vocal/chorus is really catchy and the rap line is a major highlight of this song.

Dreamcatcher - Odd Eye | Sci-fi
Serial Experiments Lain

Dystopia: Road to Utopia is the third installment of the Dystopia series, following the group's first album Dystopia: The Tree of Language and fifth EP Dystopia: Lose Myself, both released in 2020. The lead single "Odd Eye" is a nu-metal with a strong rock sound and hip-hop elements. It conveys the story of the EP implicitly, with a deep and strong will to move forward once again towards a true utopia." Odd Eye" is described as "a powerful song that mixes rock and hip hop elements. The lower register of a piano was used to give off a holy vibe. In the chorus, the vocal melody overlaps with a distorted guitar sound, creating a more attention-grabbing piece." "Odd Eye" was composed in the key of F-sharp minor, with a tempo of 160 beats per minute. The overall message is trying to find Utopia, a perfect world of beauty where no toxicity or negativity can follow but the truth is that it does not exist so it's better to look for the beauty within themselves.

LOONA - Star Star | Fantasy Sci-fi
Twinkle Twinkle Little Star

"Star" is an English version of "Voice" recorded by the South Korean girl group Loona which was announced with ‘the Starry Festival.’ "Star" is a synth-pop song composed in F♯ minor and has a tempo of 158 bpm. The song is charged with "cosmic energy" until the very last chorus explodes with perfectly blended vocal colors and dazzling choreographic synchronization. The lyrics capture the precarious and once-in-a-lifetime nature of the group's global fame and their understanding of how much they owe their unprecedented nugu stardom to the rapidly growing community of their fans that gravitates toward them. The song has also been described as retro, having a low addictive repeated beat that captures the uncontainable excitement of being in love. Inspired by the midnight festival, Sleeping Beauty and the cosmos, the ethereal music video follows the members of the group as they wake up within a dream and chase their goals and aspirations after discovering themselves in a mysterious space. The group members put on a dreamlike performance in a private midnight festival, paying homage to the light of stars which gives them strength and confidence. The stars that appear throughout the music video represent the group's fans called "Orbits". So About Rice Water...

Hey Subbies,

I've been trying to do some self-study lately while creating a workout schedule that works for me. But recently, I actually wanted to talk about Haircare...specifically about Ayurvedic Topicals Treatments and Cognitive disorders usages. I was also watching a video about Yao women in China and the rice water (protein) rinse ritual they do. Everyone has their own thoughts on the fermentation process. There are three standard ways to do the fermentation but it depends if you want to make Saké ( Rice is needed during the fermentation ) or Rice Water ( Rice is not needed for the fermentation process ).

And, Rice Water has amazing benefits for skin diseases and aliment so you don't want to be lazy when making this rinse. So the ingredients needed were really interesting to me and here are the Ingredients: Filtered/distilled water, White rice, "pomelo" grapefruit, and tea plant seed. A lot of people don't know that the Tea plant has cleansing properties specifically the Saponin compounds which are less known about mainstream wise. However, I had watched Ayurvedic hair care videos so I started making a list of ingredients to create an Ayurvedic hair care regime and possibly supplements (ie. Ashwagandha, Brahmi (Water hyssop), and Gotu Kola (Centella Asiatica) [parsley family]). [*Bacopa shares a similar biochemical profile but for me personally because of Korean Skincare I'm more informed of Centella Asiatica]. In the world of Naturopathic treatments, there can be hundreds of options so I wanted to simplify the most used ingredients to better understand each of them.

Cleanser

  • Shikakai - Naturally low pH | anti-dandruff | mild cleaning agents
  • Aritha -  Natural insecticides
  • Neem - Natural insect repellent

Conditioner

  • Amla - Astringent | wound healing | hair growth
  • Neem

Leave-In

  • Aloe Vera - Skin treatment | Moisturizer
  • Fenugreek  - A rich source of proteins, minerals, and vitamins | anti-disease

Scalp Treatments ( Oils )

    • Brahmi - Antioxidants | anti-inflammation
    • Jatamansi -  Antioxidants properties |
    • Ashwagandha - Disease treatment
    • Shikakai
    • Neem
    • Fenugreek
    • Aloe Vera

Hair Follicle Treatment ( Dyes )

    • Brahmi
    • Henna - Dye
    • Alma
    • Fenugreek
    • Brahmi
    • Shikakai
    • Ashwagandha
    • Jatamansi

    Let's Dissect 911

    Hey Subbies,

Random Post, however, about a year ago I watched Lady Gaga's music video 911. I think watched it over 10x times because it had a lot of amazing art history references and I wanted to point them out. And I thought about posting it here but since the song is really about depression lyrics-wise so, I thought it would be too off the nose. However, I came back to the song and said to myself Why Not...in my LOONA voice, and to post my findings here. Also, I've been a back seat Gaga listener since her debut and how I found out about her was when I saw her face plastered on a wall every day at a specific bus stop while going to high school.

Anyways, as you know Gaga loves to use religious concepts in her music videos but this one got me thinking about putting on my art hat. There are a lot of references in the MV, it’s like spaghetti western opera but set in the ancient world and I am here for it. Lady Gaga masterfully executed the imagery and shouts to the director and crew to help bring this to life. I even did a little deep-dive research on the cinematography that inspired it in reference to Sergei Parajanov's works which is an easter egg in the MV. And I don't want to give too much away so I'm going to try to just feature imagery of Gaga and Cultural art images you may have seen here or there so go see the full MV on your own. And enjoy Lady Gaga gifs out of context sort of...

Gaga is blindfolded she reminds me of blind faith aka Lady Justice or Themis with the use of her hands as scales. The anklet on her foot means she’s engaged / a gift from the groom. (Throughout the MV Gaga moves side to side  like a scale/ pendulum)

She was confirmed to be a goddess/martyr because of the shot of the golden disc and her walking into the frame (The Disc is the symbol of the sun and is a very popular iconography in artwork like in Christianity, Ancient Egyptians, Ancient Greek, etc.)

She also turns into Goddess Aphrodite/ Nut/ Flora with Spring of Life holding an innocent white rose. In Tarot, the Fool, the white rose symbolizes purity and is a reminder to cleanse the mind.

Fun Fact: the Goddess of Color and Rainbows is named Iris who is also associated with Hermes.

She as Flora /Persephone dies and comes back to reality reborn (plus flora print towards the end of the MV). Gaga in red and wearing a thin scarlet or crimson string (Hebrew: Khutt Hashemi) as a type of talisman is a Jewish folk custom as a way to ward off misfortune brought about by the "evil eye". The tradition is popularly thought to be associated with Kabbalah and religious forms of Judaism and even Hinduism. A Kautuka is a red-yellow colored ritual protection thread, sometimes with knots or amulets. An even earlier reference to ritual "red and black" colored thread with a dual function, one of driving away "feinds" and the other "binding of bonds" between the bride and the groom by one's relatives. Red-colored thread symbolizes Vishnu for men and Lakshmi for women. (Gaga eventually wears black twining with Hermes.)

The red string itself is usually made from thin scarlet wool thread. It is worn as a bracelet or band on the left wrist of the wearer (understood in some Kabbalistic theory as the receiving side of the spiritual body), knotted seven times. The person has to knot it 7 times while saying the kabbalah bracelet prayer.

She arrives at the church for judgment. Inside the church, it looks like a tomb. Even Hera is the personification of Isis's mythological Royalty with the yellow and the crown headdress. Also, I just notice this but towards the end of the MV Gaga has Six Circles on her Forehead which reminds me of Sailor Moon and the artist Lous and the Yakuza (Lousita Cash I just found out she is a model) for some random reason so "In geometry, the six circles theorem relates to a chain of six circles together with a triangle, such that each circle is tangent to two sides of the triangle and also to the preceding circle in the chain. The chain closes, in the sense that the sixth circle is always tangent to the first circle."

Death - The Dude on the black horse she follows and lingers around her. He holds a sun flag meaning he is holding life. “Don’t go into the light” as they say.

Desert is a symbol of time and vastness and even Ancient Egypt and Babylon are referenced in the video (It's been a while since I looked at the Ancient Babylonian culture and I was an Egyptfile as a kid.)

    Leviticus 7:9

"And every oblation that is baken in the oven, and all that is prepared in the cauldron and in the pan, shall be the priest's who offereth it; to him, it shall belong."

    1 Sam 2:14

"and he struck it into the pan, or kettle, or cauldron, or pot; the priest took of it all that the flesh-hook brought up. So they did in Shiloh to all the Israelites that came there."

Pomegranate - Symbol of Power, Blood, and Death

    Red - blood, passion

Red Rose Petals symbolize love and romance. Roses are also used on four tarot cards. The Fool, the Magician, the Strength card, and the Death card. On the Magician card, it signifies unfolding wisdom. On the Strength card, the rose represents balance. And on the Death card, it’s a reminder of purity, clarity, and transparency of intent.

The bystanders in white and Blue are Judges /Three sisters fates (The daughter of Zeus and Themis) they are in almost all western religions.

The guy hitting his head repetitively is describing his closeness to death; Babies usually do this as a form to help him go to sleep. Also, since he is on a carpet it reminds me of to pray/bowing position in many cultures specifically in Korean and the Islamic faith.

Egyptian Priest / Pope (headdress inspired a lot of western religions) figures frame her like a picture she’s a work of “divine art.” Also preparing the dead for the afterlife. They were yellow-orange attire the color of encouragement and optimism. They have 'IXII' which is '11'  on their headdress and in numerology, It represents illumination; a channel to the subconscious; insight without rational thought. It is a number with duality, which creates dynamism, inner conflict, and other catalysts with its mere presence. A number that, when not focused on a goal beyond itself, can be turned inward to create fear and phobias.

Royal Madonna (purple means royalty) holding her mummified son Jesus. (Isis and Osiris)

The Shell and Mirror (signal) - A Reflection of inner and outer self (body and soul)

The medicine (caduceus) symbol of the snakes wrapping around the staff is an ancient symbol linked to Hermès (Asclepius) the messenger god (the guy holding the umbrella). Notice that he is wearing black and If you look closely he has yarn-like ropes incorporated into his attire.

And Ambulance symbolizes the cross of the goddess Hygieia or Amaterasu or the Holy Ghost/Bride Madonna (elaborate pure white headdress) aka the spiritual healer. (The Attire is possibly inspired by Traditional Bulgarian and Russian wedding attire.)

The funeral/wedding procession depending on how you look at the MV begins with a passage over water and Anubis's judgment with shell (body) and mirror signaling the soul.

Peacock /Lakshmi - holds the eyes of the stars, vision, spiritual, guidance, and protection.

Cross “Dagger” aka obelisk is another highlighted symbol for the cross the passageway to life and death. The Cross figures or a Blue Cross in the Christian context, it represents bountifulness, hope, and the victory of life over death. It is one of the colors associated with Christmas, and the long season of the Trinity in summer. Signifies action, fire, charity, and spiritual awakening.

    ~see you

    My K-pop Predictions For 2021

     Hey Subbies,

I always wanted to do a predictions list for Kpop and inspired by Mera's music video essays she's more of an 80's Alternative indie listener than me. Catch this reference: "While everyone is looking forward first we have to look back"... at the 2000s a.k.a Y2Ks.

I want to also focus on groups this year. Sorry everyone but Spanish / Latin songs is going to be coming in strong because from what I remember we called a segment of the early 2000s "Latin Invasion" back then the west coast was slow to follow back then. I had to wait for years to hear anything coming from the east coast unless it was the so-called JLO.  Anyway, I reference a lot of popular songs but most of the songs I picked I wanted the instrumental to be the main reference not so much the lyrics unless stated otherwise. I might update this later with links, but I am drained so enjoy.

My 2020 Empties | Skin Care

     Hey Subbies,

I hope everyone is in good health. I was happy when 2021 got here that I got sick. I was so gung-ho about doing almost an hour of yoga at the beginning of the month. I learned that you can get sick from working out and I mean actually sick. Now I know why people cancel their gym memberships at the beginning of the year. The solution for me was to don't overdo it, start slow, build that stamina, and pre-worker for the Animo Acids I was clearly missing in my diet for the better. Also, I was taking vitamins so I was mostly sore lol. Right now Taiso or Radio Calestics is the bare minimum I can do right now and I try to do it during the week.

Anyway, today's post was a long time in the making. I've been collecting my favorite empty skincare and haircare products in a bag in my bathroom. I was hoping that I would be able to be doing a South Korean haul from a trip from Korea first but it is what it is (kind of off-topic I did win some Korean skincare from the Youtube Channel Beauty Cookie last year which I posted on my now very disable Instagram). I've been slacking on my skincare recently because I ran out of cleanser and the Faceshop store near me permanently closed because of the economy. I think next month I'm going to do a black cosmetic owned haul since now we have two CC cushions but we will see since the mail has been backed up. I hope the FDA would get an overhaul too like come into 2020s for clear skin and vision pls. I hate how underfunded some of our government departments are.

I really like this Cleansing Cream and really helped my really dry skin during the winter. I bought it from the TonyMoly store in Lil Tokyo which is probably permanently closed too now. This is actually my second time using cleansing cream the first being Noxzema which contained Menthol. I became aware of cleansing creams from a Kpop song surprisingly and it's actually a sad song so watch at your own risk.

Lumene is AHA Lotion which is very lightweight...more like a toner and I picked it up while I was in Target one day. It's a Nordic brand so it has natural ingredients but does contain witch hazel. And as you all know my skin is sensitive to certain formulations of AHA so I had to dilute the ingredient in order to use it in the beginning. I watch Michelle phan's video on AHA and she said that it was not good to do that. But now that I know what I know about AHAs it will be stored and used in my bath/ shower.

I really liked The Therapy Hydrating Tonic Treatment product from The Faceshop it was mostly for Anti-Aging but it wasn't irritating. It's basically a three in one product. It does contain Lavender unsurprisingly and you all know how I feel about it. Thankfully I switched to the next products.

This is the Toner and Emulsion from the Faceshop's Calendula line. I really like this line for its moisturizing properties and bought it over and over again along with The Therapy. I read and watched skincare enthusiasts talk about Calendula having healing and anti-inflammation properties. It keeps my skin moist which was what I really like about the line. Here are my travel size of the products too

I know a lot of people love or hate this specific product from Laniege but I will say it was great on my eczema. The ingredient is mostly naturally derived but I like it. I did notice the slight dryness after use when I applied it to my face but on other body parts, it was fine. Also to note it does contain Hyaluronic acid.

I used this ELF Illuminating Eye cream bought it just for fun but it did help when I was working late from the second job that I left for my current career. I'm actually currently using some Elf Skincare products from different lines. The ingredients are very simple, it's like if Laniege and the Ordinary had a baby I guess. I'm currently using Holy Hydration and it's a perfect dupe for Laniege sleeping face pack.

I bought the Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence when I was in Japan and was apart of my Japanese Haul. The product does contain denature alcohol so just be aware. For me, it wasn't a problem because it was the last step in my routine. The product smells like vitamin C so it might help with lighting scars and it doesn't leave a white cast because it has a gel-like consistency. I'm so sad I didn't buy two but I think this year I'll be able to get another brand that I couldn't afford before.

Mane 'n Tail is a brand I used off and on my whole life and its reach is diverse from human to horse. I'm currently making my own at-home detangler because I wanted something in between this brand and the old formula Sebastian Laminates Detangling Milk Leave-In Conditioner (which really nourished my hair). If you have thic hair I would definitely recommend this line too. I used to go through these bottles a lot.

When I was in Palm Springs with my mom, the hotel we were staying at had these really lovely products. We had to take the extra lotions and liquid soap because the formulation was out of this world. Omg, it smelled so heavenly that I even went online to find it and I did on Amazon for $$ a bottle lol. And it was really moisturizing even though it had lavender in it. I checked again and now they sell it in a lot more places online wholesale. They really should just make 12oz bottles and call it a day.

I hope you guys enjoyed this list. It takes me a while to get through products especially this year. I usually get through my SPFs much faster so I have a lot more backups of it lol.
