Cheongdam K-beauty Starter Pack 2024

Hey Subbies,

Here is what I've been compiling over months of watching the top makeup artist in Korea. From the women who kept my interest JUNG SAEM MOOL to ones that keep popping up on my radar like I AM MAENG, HAEMIN SUNSAENG, and ISEUL. I think K-beauty has been trying to expand its shades like Missha, Heimish, Purito, and Tir Tir however, they'll need time to perfect some of their shades. I do think they need to have a bigger social media presence if they want their foundation lines to go more global because I've noticed that's what is key in keeping it in the public domain. I've seen bad formulations and outdated technology used for some of these brands so if they want to win the hearts of everyone I think Tir Tir is probably who they should be looking towards marketing-wise and Kendo or Estee Lauder for their completion lines on the right track plus we have the internet full data sets. 

If you're in the design world you maybe familiar with Pantone which comes preinstalled in Adobe Creative Suites, and the 2025 Pantone Color of the year is Mocha Mouse which basically be the it Color of the year. I wonder if it's because of all the Latte Coffee makeup trend that was happening so get ready to see a whole lot of brown in the lifestyle sector. And what's up the villainization of "Competitive data-driven analysis," it is standard practice across the business world big and small. I just feel like we all need a refresher course in basic business economics if we are going to continue talking part in Capitalism and share our two cents. The Best of Korean Skincare Must Haves (2024-2025)

 Hey Subbies,

I hope you all are having a very Merry Holiday and tomorrow or whenever I post this will be Christmas. This post took me a while since I had to cull my playlist, go through the videos that didn't have any of the products listed in the description box, open up my Skincare Excel sheet, and then create this post which was a struggle with the blogspot bugs with uploading/licensing images. I will work on a separate post on K-beauty based on what's popular with Cheongdam MUAs beauty salons and J-beauty posts. The Hwahae app team has been working on an English browser version rollout like the Glowpick which is nice.  In addition, I really thought I would be talking about another brand this year but it was demoted to third place in the second half of the year and Torriden took the top spot gaining its worldwide darling status as hoped which I have already featured in last year's post but funny enough Roundlab came in hot the latter half of this year gaining it this year's Darling of the year. 

Retiniods, Peptides, Liposomes, Exsomes, PDRN, and new lightweight -hydroxy acid were trending ingredients on socials this year. Most of us are familiar with some of these but I didn't expect Liposomes and Exsomes which have been in high-end skincare for decades but are very useful in repairing the skin barrier in a very targeted way. Another skincare ingredient Darling has to be PDRN (polydeoxyribonucleotide) specifically Salmon DNA was primarily used in skin clinics as a skin booster because of its regenerative effects. Anyway, I changed it up this year by focusing on major categories inside of the sub-categories so for example "Eyes" if it's a 'Serum' or 'Cream' you can look at the SERUM category or the latter.

My Top K-pop Songs So far in 2024

 Hey Subbies,

I wrote a dissertation before re-editing repeatedly, but something told me I needed to get this out soon. After my Trip to WDW, I was drained especially since I also got sick towards the end of my trip. Oh someone tried to break into my car in May so I was busy filling a police report and an insurance claim to get my car door fixed. I really want to edit but I took many photos, so I'm a bit exhausted. Then I went down the HYBE vs MHJ rabbit hole no pun intended and people with sense are over it at this point "Ignorance must be bliss for the many but Two wrongs don't make it right." MHJ I knew too much about this woman before she signed on to HYBE but I see some things never change. And why are we okay with throwing innocents under the bus to shield adult's bad behavior. I've been alluding to this in past music posts but HYBE has been an overdue restructuring, especially in the Planning & Communications and Talent Cultivation departments. May into June there were all kinds of beefs and I was waiting for people to come to their senses. I was waiting for a Mera video to drop or my other YouTubers that took a hiatus to drop some gems because some of the gurls were wild'n and they needed to take a mental health break. Then people out here really trying my patience with child-like behavior not just online but offline.

Anyway, I want to talk about the comebacks and the amazing sample literal what I wanted to see from K-pop this year has just been out of this world because I couldn't stand the generic overused 80s synth that kept haunting us. First, I did not expect Chungha to drop two bops the choreo is fire and her new label giving her creative outlet to create is what she needed she was seriously READY, and if she doesn't get to perform a main stage at the end of the year awards I will riot. I didn't expect Mr. Vampire to make up the Spotify ranks because on YT Music it was Untouchable all day every day but the production is so good that I can't skip being bitten by that song I guess. Kiss of Life's Midas Touch is seriously a Y2K Britney coded  Moulin Rouge Lady Marmalade's Collaboration with Christina, Kim, Mya, P!nk with a Medusa, Aphrodite, Arachne, and Lakshmi/Hera escalating all the senses. NCT Dream's Smoothie was like watching a version of all three Matrix Movies plus Red Velvet's Red Flavor had a baby; I've been updating my WordPress and added a couple things for SMCU; and people don't know NCT+ WAYV love their Innuendos. Okay, LE SSERAFIM's Good Bones although an interlude was giving major Durarara opening monologue vibes side note: aespa's Drama logo and concept had to be influenced by this show too. As for Easy it's another chill hip hop track and choreo fits the song to a T. Moving on to aespa and according to my stats Supernova is Interstellar (And yes I watched the movie again because I usually fall asleep during the important parts and it was spurned on by Suho and RIIZE's comebacks) and the use of Afrika Bambaataa's Planet Rock sample was Chef kiss and the "THAT'S HOT" cake gets it a Y2K check mark. DXMON's Burn Up is a pre-debut song that sounds like it should be a song debut and they are definitely Rock and Final Fantasy inspired that Taeyong's hair in Ay-Yo now lives rent-free in my head. TEN is literally up and down my Spotify stats I'm surprised he didn't place in the top 6 artists but I didn't expect another movie reference.

Why did I think of (G)i-dle song as "One More Rollie" by Changmo lol in all seriousness, it was a very chill hip song but it sounds better in the car. Twice's Rush is definitely giving Y2K, especially with those funky synths, bass drum, and high hats. The LA LA LA Girls aka TripleS have done it again and if you don't know they are in a parallel universe as LOONA so instead of 12 there are 24 girls represented by Crows which is on par with  NCT memberships but I've been wanting to do a post about how much closer SMCU is to the LOONACU since LSM worked with LOONA after Jaden left. ARTMS finally (re)debuted with their title track Virtual Angel and make sure to watch it with your "Human Eyes," I really like Air which is a culmination of their works. Birth tops my list due to the very 00s rift and Flower Rhythm was giving me major J-pop ElectroPop vibes i.e. Perfume's 2007 Polyrhythm. NCT Wish's debut was giving me major East Coast/ NY 90/00's hip hop with Eros/Cupid and Psyche storyline, oh last year it was Crashes that ended in flames and now it falling from the heavens concept-wise for SM. Everyone this Q2 has been giving me my childhood Live-action version of Senshi-genre vibes from aespa's Sentai Daft Punk-influenced Licorice to IVE's Sailor Moon Maho Shojo/Magical Girl concept with Accendio. BABYMONSTER's SHESSH had to check it out for the use of Arabic scale and the overused YG sound and I was here for the rap line so I can't wait for the analysis archetype videos to come out to see if they actually create a new sound outside of YG stagnation. I'm surprised YooA Rofttop is on the list but another song with a crow concept plus a lot of people didn't know that she studied Hip Hop but they only saw her as a pretty face with the voice of an angel I guess.

Happy New Year! I've been trying to write this post for over a month but I'm kind of glad I waited because the majority of Skincare Enthusiast Vloggers posted their videos literally on the last week of December into the New Year. I had been saving the videos as they popped into my feed to watch later so I could go through them when I had access to my computer again. I don't really like working on data-driven posts on my iPad Air unless I have my files already set up. Also, I thought about using  ChatGPT to gather the data from each video but that's not a feature on free accounts. Anyways, last year Beauty of Josen was the top viral brand and it was a battle between it and Roundlab. This year's best on the Haewha app is Torriden which has been gaining more attention and is a household staple in Korea and hopefully it can become a worldwide hit.

Happy New Year, Life Update and Quick K-pop Prediction

 

Hey Subbies

OMG, it's been so long but I'm happy to be finally back on my computer. The reason I was gone for so long was that my room needed to be rearranged since I was so inspired by that Tiktoker feng shui guru that kept showing up on my YouTube reels and my old bookcase was basically falling apart. I had to take advantage of the IKEA sale that recently just ended. I was basically building furniture and moving my room around which I had been thinking about doing since I got this Verizon internet and my new PC is running Windows 11 which is a new learning curve for me right now. 

I don't know how I'll be doing this post it may be just a simple life update but I know that I need to get my yearly Top played LPs and EPs plus Update my Spotify first then I can get the Yearly Best of Skincare and Empties which there is a lot. Oh, I wanted to do a quick Kpop Prediction but I didn't want to type up anything during Mercury retrograde. I was so happy to see some of my predictions did happen like the genres of "Rock, R&B, and Alt" taking over K-pop because NMIXX's recent comeback was really nice to see them mix it up again and yes, pun intended. ITZY tapping back into their dark self-empowerment roots was great to see, "Born To Be" kind of made me think of their Unnies' "Ready To Be" comeback and it is really catchy for a prerelease, and "UNTOUCHABLE" is currently on repeat along with Chaeryeong's "Mine" and Lia track needs more attention because it is certified bop but JYP needed to do better for them and I think the reason why ITZY wasn't doing numbers recently on top of having been one member short with Lia being on haitus is how they did their roll outs they could have staggered them because that's months of content they could have capitalized on. But the good news is Chungha signing to a new label, Jihyo had her solo, Red Velvet had a chilling coming, and Survival shows groups will stay flopping. And let me not forget that P1Harmony is performing at the Governor's Ball in NY which I hope they would promote more here in the States in past predictions. Also, have y'all seen the lineup for Coachella because I'm shooketh. It has only been close to three weeks and there are so many Nugu groups popping up on the feed it's crazy. Unfortunately, I need need be very mindful about going to concerts now so I probably go to 4 concerts/conventions this year but a little side rant: Promoters please stop scheduling K-pop acts in the middle of the week in LA specifically.

We will probably get some homages to 1-gen and 3-gen K-pop It would be cool if we got more Jewelry, Bada, Shinhwa, Highlight, IU, G-Dragon & Taeyang, and TVXQ homages as well as Western pop which we got the Collab with Jungkook and Usher. In addition, the little references to Gwen Stefani during her Harajuku era/Problematic era references in Jeon Somi's "Gold Gold Gold" MV and KARD's "ICKY". I don't know how the West didn't see that Asia was coming to major prominence even back then with the tokenism but we are here now. I wonder if Alicia Keys, Maroon 5, Beyonce, Pharrell William fresh off his LV collab, Katy Perry and Imagine Dragons are willing to do collabs now. Just found out that V and IU are collaborating so can't wait to see that. I think that's it for now but I might come back to this post in the future if I remember something because I usually don't write down my concerns and wishes but I have a hobonichi to keep track now.

I'm adding my KCONLA 2024 lineup Prediction here because since KCON Japan lineup just came out and this year they decided to move the convention into July so they don't have won't have any weather related issues again like last year. The funny thing we're going back into a La Niña weather pattern so it will be a hot dry summer aka going into a drought type weather pattern again this year unlike the last couple of years.
