Check The Box If This Applies [Black History]

Hey Subbies,

Happy Belated Birthday to me and too you if this is B-day Month. I really wanted to do some introspection on this post. I over the age of 25, I have worked part-time for 8 years with benefits that are better than what most of my peers get living in this tax-ridden state, I have my bachelor degree and African American/Black. You guys can kind of do the math. Currently, I have been job hunting and doing the interviews and here there is background check but then nothing. I have been approached by more financial-insurance firms than I can count, offering that remodified pyramid schemes to a path of wealth and security that means investing more money into you a.k.a the "state certification" and the company. Just because the economy says more black people are working that is an abstract that not the whole essay. The questions should be asked: What type of jobs are Black American working, is part-time or full-time jobs?; What states have highest employed per capita; How much are they making at these jobs? How can we further diversify in the job market?

Now, a lot of friends and acquaintances that I talked to have this type of lifestyle
Lives at home, may or may not help parents out with financially:

  • Has some college maybe a Degree
  • Has a part-time job or lives off an inheritance
  • Relies on driving services/ Doesn't have a license.

Me:

  • I live at home and help my mom out every month since I started working.
  • Received a Bachelor Degree
  • Has a part-time job
  • Has a license and owns a used car.

If were do a google search of "Why is so hard black women to get a job" and other I was listen to public radio and they were going to doing a segment that centered around black women saving the U.S. and or its economy. You can read these article to get the whole picture:

My Favorite Black Gurus + Channels

Hey Subbies,

I haven't done a post like this in a while. When I started watching a whole lot of Black Beauty Gurus but a lot them went on hiatus or there was a lot of drama surrounding them which was mainly fueled by drama channels. I'm going to start with Channels that I have been following since I joined youtube, which is funning because even though I'm not avid content creator I do spend most of the days watching Youtube which is the main bulk of my entertainment and where I get my news. Even though I might not subscribe to all these channels mainly because when I watch a guru I want to see if they have:

A) Tackle issues within the beauty world
B) Skin Texture/ Tone/ Issues
C) Changed It Up

I feel like a lot of people be sleeping on these amazingly beautiful melanins and feel I needed to give them so more love by sharing them with you. All we need is Makeup Guru Collaboration Channel and we are set.

That is where I discovered far more about who I am. Who I am is never going to be solidly defined. But I believe that’s why I live each day with the purpose of doing what I love full-time. My content is inclusive of anyone who felt out of place being who they were…even in the weird kid cliques.

Lucky Bags in America?: There is fortune in leftovers

Hey Subbies,

I've been wanting a Luck Bag or Fukubukuro for years. "Fukubukuro is new year tradition or a custom in which merchants make grab bags filled with unknown random contents and sell them for a substantial discount, usually, 50% or more off the list price of the items contained within."  I watched my favorite Vlogger based in Japan doing all these Bag Reveals of what they were able to get and in the process of making me wish America had something like this that wasn't a monthly box. Currently, there are a bunch of sales going on in Online but who wants to pay for shipping.

From a marketing standpoint, Lucky Bags seem like a great idea since a lot of "First World Brands" like Disney, Lush, Adidas, Starbucks, H&M, Claires, and Forever21 are already doing it. Even Streetwear, Thrift, Pet, and Electronic stores are taking part in it. Instead of just having sales racks you can also take those last season items as long as they aren't damaged and curate bags to shoppers and the mystery of getting something from there favorite brands is pretty much a win-win. Hell, there are young adult and adults alike going to stores waiting in line for limited items already.

In Japan, it is a lot more hectic, possibly on the same level as Black Friday. However, to combat the growing crowds for each year for these mystery bags they make customer line up and give each customer a ticket. Not only do they do that but they do a preview of what you might get if the customer decides to buy a bag online. And, it's also really overwhelming sometimes to go to a store or shop online to look for whats on sale or find clothes that fit you. Now in the US, we have all kinds of shapes and sizes, so my suggestions are to give each person their options of choice sizes of the bags or Clothing Sizes (i.e. Plussize or L/M or S/M). Some bags range from $20-$100 (~2000yen to 10000yen) and have 10 or more items even whole freak'n outfits.

My only experience with Lucky bags has been at conventions like Anime Expo. I like the option to buy them but for the most part, I go in with a game plan. But see people getting them and if they don't want something they can give it to someone who does. I hope something like this can happen because literally saving up to go to Japan is not always an option for many.

Stores I think should try this:

American Apparel
Anthropologie
BCBG
Bed, Bath & Beyond
Charlotte Russe
CVS
Fry's
Guess
JCP
Macy
Macy’s
Michael Kors
Nike
Nine West
Quick Silver
Rue21
Sears
Toy R US
True Religion

My Favorite Episodes from the Netflix Series Black Mirror

I happened upon this show during school, I saw my friend watching this crazy show that seemed to be a mystery to me. I finally asked my friend what heck she was watching during break time. She told it was Black Mirror and told me that I should watch it. And guess what, I did but months later and of course I binge watched it since season three was already out. I'm currently watching season 4 and my co-worker wants me to watch or at least catch to season eight of the Walking Dead because I've only watched episodes whenever I was over my ex's house I just wasn't really into the world completely going to shit at the time because that was a thing and old Doctor Who episodes. Anyways, I wanted to tell my favorite episode from each season. Also, I will include any specials and if the season went over three episodes then I will add another favorite episode from that season. I made this post mainly for people looking for something new to watch and if you like Hitchcock, Outer Limits, or Sci-fi in general, so I hope you can get into at least one of these episodes.

S1E2 - Fifteen Million Merits (pssh they this song was in Jurassic World 2 trailers)

Bing feels trapped living in an enclosed, automated space, as a member of a society that rides power-generating stationary bikes in exchange for "merits", a form of currency they can use to buy things they need. One day, he hears a girl named Abi singing in the bathroom and falls in love with her. He decides to gift her fifteen million merits, that she can use to buy a ticket for a talent show. Abi accepts and enters the contest, where she is given a psychotropic beverage to drink before she goes on stage.

S2E1 - Be Right Back + White Christmas Special

Ash lives with his girlfriend Martha, spending a lot of time on social media, until one day he dies in a traffic accident. A few days later, Martha finds out that she is pregnant and decides to use a new technology that is able to simulate Ash's voice and personality on the phone, based on his social media profile and other audiovisual material. This service helps her overcome her despair, until one day she accidentally drops her phone and panics.

At Christmas, in a remote cabin in a snowy area, two men discuss how they came to be stationed there, a point of discussion they never had in the prior five years. Starring: Jon Hamm, Rafe Spall, Oona Chaplin, and Natalia Tena.

S3E1 - Nosedive (notice anyone familiar?)

In a society where one's social rating with others greatly influences one's life, a woman tries to improve her own rating to afford an ideal apartment by giving an appealing speech at her best friend's wedding. Starring: Bryce Dallas Howard, Alice Eve, Cherry Jones, and James Norton.
S3E4 - San Junipero

In a virtual space, the outgoing Kelly becomes friends with the more reserved Yorkie, and helps her to come to accept her repressed sexuality. Starring: Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Mackenzie Davis.

For Season Four I'll tell my favorites currently but without the episode titles.

~ Happy New Year ~
