My Trip to NYC (PIC HEAVY)

Hey Subbies,

This is another life update I guess. So I went to NYC again but as a pedestrian, this time around and I didn't stay for a couple of hours around. It took me some time get these photos edited for you guys. If you want more images I posted some to my Instagram. I recently got a promotion to another department from my first job so I'm glad I can have more time to get back into blogging again. Right before my promotion I Maria Kondo my room specifically my closets my room is still a working progress but at least my bathroom area, desk, file cabinet, and both bookshelf are neat now lol. Anyways, I really wanted to see NY to it's fullest and my mom kept bringing it up every time she watches TV so shootout to Liberty Mutual your ads are def inspiring. Plus, I wanted Lion King finally after all these years, you know 80s & 90s kids need to at least see one Broadway show and also check off the list of seeing a Disney Show. Check Mate.

I recommend bring good walking shoes, a bottle for water and a battery pack for your phones. Most museums aren't free so the NYC Libraries are amazing culture spots. We went to the Grand Central Library which has free tours another bucket list for us 90s babies they also had an exhibit on the Stonewall Inn and the Christopher Robins original stuff animals. The other Library we visited was the Morgan Library actually had JRR Tolkien Exhibit that we were able to see since it was opening night but no camera allowed. The last leg of our trip went to see the Statue of Liberty and Coney Island.  I also walked by my cousin's university which is NYU and is steps away from Washington's Square Park and Fifth Avenue. I forgot to mention the first two nights we stayed in Long Island City hotel which was really convenient and we moved to an Airbnb as recommended by other travel vloggers. We stayed in Woodside, Queens which had a lot more cherry blossom on display and near the Long Island railroad and Roosevelt Blvd which if you like South American and South East Asian food then this is the spot to be in. However, It takes about less than an hour to get into the city and a half away from JFK so way out your options. If you are staying outside the NYC the subway is expensive so get a week pass or you'll be paying a lot more. The only weird part of this trip was the weather and a lot New Yorker said it was unusual for May.

The Best Oils You Need

Hey Subbies,

It has been a while, hasn't it. I've been working on this post since the beginning of the year hoping to get it out sooner. However, I did a lot of research and tried my best to find all the info I can on these amazing oils. If you're into Oils then you probably heard of Oleic acid and Linoleic acid. These oils play an important role for skin barrier repair (when other fatty acids, lipids, glycerides, sodium and etc are present), Anti Inflammatory (when polyphenols and phospholipids are present), and Antioxidant (when polyphenols, phospholipids and etc. are present), and wound healing (when polyphenol and lauric acid and etc are present) effects on the skin. These oils can also consist of Omega 3 and/or 6 all though, Omega 3 is way more important for the body is still good to find oils that contain at least both fatty acids. In addition, Omega-3 deficiency can cause rough, scaly skin and red, swollen, itchy rashes so it is important also to include it in our diet. Here is a post all about some of this oil here. Hopefully, this post will be a little square with providing you information if you want to change it up in terms of facial or body or hair oils. I also included if you can pair some of the oils with other acid treatments like AHA/ BHA (Alpha hydroxy acid / Beta Hydroxy Acids (salicylic)) which usually paired with each other; or Hyaluronic Acid; for maximizing the effectiveness in reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, improving overall skin texture, and Anti-aging. Don't forget good sunscreen.

Olive oils sold as the grades Extra virgin olive oil and Virgin olive oil, therefore, cannot contain any refined oil. Refined olive oil is virgin oil that has been refined using charcoal and other chemical and physical filters, methods that do not alter the glyceridic structure. It has a free acidity, expressed as oleic acid, of not more than 0.3 grams per 100 grams (0.3%) and its other characteristics correspond to those fixed for this category in this standard. South Korean Planning

Updated:10/3/22
Unlike Japan's ramped-up tourist economy, before you go to South Korea however you will need to apply for a Tourist Visa if you are staying more than 90 days depending on your home country. The health shots list is pretty much the same for most East Asian countries so nothing to worry about. In this post, I will focus on Seoul for the most part and update it to include places like Busan and Jeju Island...similar to that of my Japan planning post. I'll probably add this to my other post but I think 10-12 days in a country like South Korea and Japan will allow you a good amount of time to see the top sights and also rest if you're staying in one city or region. I would not book anything until the 2nd or 3rd day of the trip it also applies to online pre-bookings. Now if accommodations have a special tour for sightseeing with pick up from the hotel then totally recommend those on the first legs of the trip. I personally think staying in the city center of Seoul is probably the best choice.

**South Korea is now requiring Visa-exempt Travelers to apply for entry into SK. You can apply here at the K-ETA website (Korean Electronic Travel Authorization). Also, make sure to also fill and keep the Q-Code may only work when landing in South Korea for entry.**

Prepaid Cards & Transportation Passes
First, you will need one of these [cards] after getting off the plane once you get into Seoul. If you have been to Tokyo, Japan, or any major city with mass transit then you probably have encountered these RFID or IC cards. Both cards are available at arrival Kiosks at Airports, Train Stations, and Convenience Stores. Many cards can be used for leisure and pleasure throughout the city or country.

T-money is a rechargeable smart card and other "smart" devices used for paying transportation fares in and around Seoul and other areas of South Korea. T money cards can be purchased at 7-Elevens and Lotte Marts branches throughout Seoul and Busan.

LOCA cards work similarly to T-money cards but have some limitations but can be used with any Lotte subsidiaries and for everyday purchases.

Seoul CityPass
This Pass can be used on the Metro Subways and Buses up to 20 times a day. The pass can allow access to the Seoul City Tour Bus. This pass has options from 1-day, 2-day (40x use) or 3-day ( 60x use) pass.

Discover Seoul Pass
This is another type of prepaid card that allows you admission to visit 30 attractions in Seoul. You can also personalize your trip. This pass is also available via the App. Options include 24h, 48h, 72h with T money functions for the card.

Korean Pass & Korean Busan Pass
Prepaid (blue) rechargeable (red) tourist cards that can be filled up till $500 with an option for transportation function.
Korea Tour Card
This transportation and travel card works much like the T Money Card and is available via the phone. This card can allow admissions to major theme parks and museums.
MPass
This card can be used up 7 days in both Seoul and Jeju city bus lines offering 20 rides a day and can reload making it interchangeable with the T Money card

Korail Pass
Korail Pass is a rail pass for foreign visitors who want to travel throughout Korea. Consecutive and Flexible passes (within 10 days) are available from 2-5 days.

Sim cards & Pocket Wifi
I personally love pocket WiFi devices since my trip to Tokyo and it worked great for WiFi calling so I didn't need to wait to find an international phone to make important calls home. Also, my carrier allows international calling of course with fees so, I would recommend contacting your cell phone provider to see if this option is for you instead. Also if using an LTE device I recommend getting an LTE pocket Wi-Fi.
If you do decide to get a sim card you can get better deals outside the airport. It is possible to get better rates online as well. Also, make sure your phone is unlocked or compatible with other providers.

South Korea's Top providers are:
  1. SKT (1st of the biggest providers)
  2. KT (2nd biggest provider)
  3. LGU+
  4. Other:
    1. https://www.klook.com/
* Also suggest downloading the area via google maps.

And don't forget to make reservations for things you would like to do while in Korea. The most very popular things to do is Duty free shopping, Skincare/Cosmetic procedures, Concerts, Nightlife and sightseeing.

Money

After my trip to Tokyo, I would highly recommend bringing at least $100 dollars just in case your card declines overseas. Also, call your bank the morning of the flight about your planned destination even if you told them weeks in advance. Long story short, I had to call the decline hotline the day I arrived and had to make my card decline in order for them to allow me to use them with prior notice might I add. Also, some bank cards will have two fees one for "Cross-border" borders and a "Transaction/VAT fee." If these fee rates are more than 3-5% then I highly recommend bringing paper money with you for future transactions. The other option is to wait for the money exchange rate to be in that range. South Korea has a tax-free program like Japan, so certain locations will allow you to recoup your money. Get to the airport 2-3 hours before your international flight because sometimes flights will come early and leave early which happened to me even though I was at the airport early.

Love Motels
First appeared in South Korea in the mid-1980s. They were originally called "Parktel" (Korean: 박텔). Their boom and growth were originally attributed to the 1988 Olympics which took place in Seoul. The hotels have historically been seen as seedy, with some residents speaking out against them and not wanting them within certain distances of schools and residential areas. However, some hotel owners have tried to remove that element from their business by upgrading, offering cleaner modern services, and removing some of the more sexual elements from their decor. They are considered a taboo topic in South Korea and a photo exhibit of love motels taken by a foreigner created a controversy in 2010.
